Weekly Updates

Welcome to the Spider Mountain Team’s weekly updates blog, where we share the latest enhancements happening at Spider Mountain. Our commitment to continuous improvement ensures that you, our valued guests, are always the first to know and benefit from these updates. Here, you’ll find all the details about the upgrades to our trails, base area, and Thunderbird Lodge, all designed to provide you with the ultimate downhill mountain biking experience.

September 9th to September 12th

Cedar Fever – Preparations for the HCDH event on October 12th are underway! Our team has been diligently smoothing the trail by removing stumps and jagged rocks. We began by resetting the edge of the first step down with rocks and dirt to create a better landing. Additionally, we removed a tree and added a rock ledge feature to cover the stump. Overall, the trail has been widened to enhance lines and provide more options for riders. Make sure to try it out before the race to master its curves.

September 2nd to September 5th

Centipede – It’s done! Heavy rain had caused damage to the trail, giving the crew extra work, but that’s no issue for our top-notch team. They’ve restored Centipede to a true green trail by clearing rocks and adding fresh dirt. Come give it a try this weekend!

Sticky Icky – Sticky is being prepped for the upcoming Team Trail Party race. Unlike Centipede, we’ve added rocks and fresh dirt to restore that true advanced rider experience. We’ve also trimmed the trees and brush to open up the trail and enhance rider safety.

Other projects – The most recent project on the mountain involved some basic trimming of bushes and trees beneath Texas’ only chairlift!

August 27th to August 29th

The team put in some serious effort this week to bring you more dirt! Check out the details below to see which trails received some extra care and attention.

Centipede – A fresh layer of dirt was added at the trail exit to enhance the surface and maintain its status as a green trail. The berms also received some care, with drainage ruts filled in to ensure a smoother ride.

Vipers Den Top Section – The team filled in the drainage ruts and smoothed out the transitions between the berms, creating a faster and smoother ride.

Recluse Top Section – The trail entrance just got an upgrade! The team cleared out rocks and smoothed the bumps to ensure you start your ride on the right foot.

Cedar Fever Middle Section – The roller step down now features a smoother landing! The team carefully removed rocks and bumps, allowing you to maintain speed and control throughout the feature.

August 20th to August 22nd

This week, our trail crew resembled skilled landscapers as they meticulously cleared the trails. They carefully removed weeds and trimmed back overhanging branches, ensuring every path is well-maintained. Their hard work plays a crucial role in providing our guests with a safer and more enjoyable ride experience. We’re committed to keeping our trails in top condition for everyone to enjoy. Take a look at the new updates for yourself!

August 13th to August 15th

The sweep is complete! Last week, our team cleared all our trails of rocks and loose debris to help keep your tires firmly on the ground and you safely on the trails. We’re dedicated to creating a safer experience for the entire Spider Community.

In addition, our trail crew dedicated part of their week to enhancing Sticky Icky. The second section of the trail now features some exciting upgrades! After clearing away jagged rocks, the crew added dirt to improve traction, making your ride smoother. They also removed a tree to create an extra line option, allowing for a new possible race line. To top it off, the trail’s exit was reinforced with rock armor, ensuring a strong finish to the section! Stay tuned for next weeks updates and make sure to get on Sticky Icky!
