Kids Shred too

Have you ever seen those kids on the mountain just ripping down and making everything look easy? I think almost everyone has had the opportunity to say wow when it comes to seeing this, especially if you ski or snowboard. It’s actually quite a crazy sight and mountain biking is no exception to this. Spider Mountain is proud to give the opportunity for kids to excel at a sport they love and become shredders which leads us to the point, that kids shred too!

How To Become a Kid Shredder!

FREE Power Kids Pass

Spider Mountain proudly supports the growth of young athletes in the outdoors and that’s why we offer a FREE Power Kids Pass for ages 12 and below (no strings attached)!! Learn more about the FREE power kids pass by clicking here.

If you are over the age of 12, we recommend getting a Spider 12-Month Pass to get the most bike time possible! Explore pricing by clicking here.

Start Slow!

We encourage everyone to start slow when it comes to downhill mountain biking! The best way to learn the basic fundamentals of mountain biking is through our lessons program. Lessons include our FREE intro to downhill or a private lesson to get a more curated approach.

You can take a look at our FREE intro to downhill lesson by clicking here or give us a call to answer any questions or book a private lesson at (512) 756-4878.

What gear do I need?

The Spider Mountain team recommends starting your downhill adventure with a full-suspension mountain bike. This will give you more control when going over bumps. We also recommend having a full suit of armor including a helmet, chest plate, elbow pads, gloves, and knee pads. Its also important to have grippy tennis or biking shoes.

If you don’t own a mountain bike or armor, don’t worry! We have rentals you can look at by clicking here.

We also offer the $99full package option on weekdays which includes a bike, lift ticket, and full set of armor padding. Check it out by clicking here.

What trail do I start with at Spider Mountain?

The best trail to start off on the right foot at Spider Mountain is Itsy-Bitsy. This is a great beginner trail and will help you get the feel of downhill mountain biking without pushing too much.

We do still recommend that beginners learn to be comfortable on flat ground before going up our chair lift. The best way to get comfortable and properly start off is to book a lesson with us. You can take a look at our FREE intro to downhill lesson here or give us a call to answer any questions or book a private lesson at (512) 756-4878.

How do I progress my skills?

Progressing your skills to become a kid shredder takes time and effort. This does not happen overnight! However, you can get to this level faster by taking the right steps.

The first step is to start off on the right foot. This means learning the proper fundamentals with biking. While this can be learned in many different ways, the easiest and fastest way is through a private lesson with our Spider Mountain experts. Give us a call at (512) 756-4878 to book your private lesson.

The second step is to get involved with the community. Being around other riders that are more experienced will help to learn what others are doing and help you to have fun while doing it. A big way of meeting others is to join us for our events. You can find upcoming group rides and other events by clicking here.

The third and last tip to become a kid shredder is to maximize your bike time! The most effective way of doing this is to get a season pass. Kids 12 and under can get a FREE pass here. If you are above the age of 12, you can get your pass here.
